Apple

I came across Kong Yun Lee, who photographs under the name Ricor , in Oh Comely magazine (see, I told you its a good'en!). His series Apple , I think, is beautiful. He uses film and natural light to produce images that are soft and surreal.
I really like his work as he allows himself to play with light, and to experiment with film; which is what I think is the best thing about the film camera. You get to experiment with what it can do, compared to a digital camera where you manipulate the image on a computer, with a film camera you can capture it the way you want it.

I strong recommend looking at his work; its all really lovely :)

The Impossible Project

Polaroid film is back!
The Impossible Project is making new polaroid film, Hurrah!
I love my polaroid camera and have held back from taking pictures so as to save the film and to only take "the best pictures". And lets be honest, that just isn't any fun.
These are two pictures that I took when I still had lots of film.
I liked the colour of the green bottle against the blue of the chair, and thought it would look good as a polaroid, and it did! The next image i took as i wanted to see how the orange shirt would look against the orange wall paper, and also the contrast in the two different patterns.

The nest two images are just ones I took of a few of my friends. I like the fact that they are not 100% sharp, and the colours aren't quite right. So often in photography your images have to be 100% perfect, perfect lighting, good depth of field, pretty model, nice location blah blah blah. I love using a polaroid as all of that goes out the window and you can just play and hope that your picture comes out at least 50% O.K.

Keep your Curiosity Sacred.

Last month I decided to pick up this magazine, as I was bored of I.D, Dazed and Confused etc. as to me it seems its always filled with the same style of photography, and personally I don't find them very inspirational any more. And after a little dip into depression, i need some inspiration to pull back into photography. It needs to be fun again!!
And Oh Comely, is awesome! Its fun, its quirky, its different, and very inspirational. And its good to look at other forms of creativity; drawings, arts and crafts, writing, its such a good magazine!
My Favourite thing from this issue is this:

Birds in Hats . . . . Awesome!
